Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri Dixit is a famous Indian actress, best known for her performances in the film Beta Saajan and Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! The actress began her career acting during the 80s. She became famous for the film Tezaab starring the veteran actor Anil Kooor. The next film she appeared in was Dil in which she starred alongside Aamir. The daughter of a middle class family in Mumbai she began learning to dancing at a young age. At the age of 16, she began acting and suffered for several years due to the fact that her first films were failures. She finally found success, and then became one of the most prominent actresses in the Indian film business. After marriage, she experienced an absence from the industry before returning to the film industry. More recently she played an integral part in the movie Gulaab Gang which was about the challenges faced by women across India. Dixit was awarded the film eight Filmfare Awards out of the 15 she was up for nominations. Padma Shri was awarded to Dixit. It is the fourth most prestigious civil award in India. She is known for her social works as well.
